Pandalers is a guide to Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata, operated by IndoGeek. Using it means agreeing to what follows. Most of it is about the one thing you can give it that belongs to you: a photograph.
In short: browse freely and without an account. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping it secure. Only upload photographs you took and have the right to share, and understand that a photograph in a gallery is public and stays there.
You may read, search, map and use Pandalers as a visitor. Do not attempt to break it, overload it, scrape it in bulk, or use it to harass anybody. Pandal details are gathered from public sources and contributed by hand: they are offered in good faith and may contain mistakes, so check anything you depend on — particularly opening times and routes — before you travel. The site comes with no warranty.
Browsing needs no account. One is needed to contribute a photograph and to keep your visit progress across devices, and creating one means giving us an email address and a password. That address has to be one that can receive mail: a mistyped one is refused when you sign up, because an address nobody can write to is an account nobody can recover.
One address is one account, and accounts are not transferable. You are responsible for what happens through your account, so choose a password worth having and do not share it. You can change your name, your profile picture and your password at any time, and you can close the account from the account page — see the privacy notice for exactly what closing it does and does not remove.
An account that is used to upload prohibited material or to abuse the site may be closed without notice. Nothing here transfers ownership of your contributions to us — see the next section.
You keep the copyright. A photograph you upload remains yours. By uploading it you grant Pandalers a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, resize or re-encode it for delivery, and display it on this site alongside the pandal it belongs to — and to keep doing that for as long as it stays in the gallery. You can ask for it to be taken down at any time, and the licence ends for that photograph when it is removed. Nothing here lets us sell your photograph or use it in advertising.
You confirm it is yours to give. By uploading you are stating that you took the photograph, or otherwise hold the rights needed to license it to us on these terms. Do not upload pictures you found elsewhere, pictures that are not yours to license, or pictures of people who have not agreed to being in a public gallery. Do not upload anything unlawful, indecent, hateful or unrelated to the festival.
A gallery is public. Anything you upload can be seen, saved and shared by anyone, and photographs are stored as you uploaded them — often including the location a phone wrote into the file. If that matters, remove the metadata before uploading.
Contributions are checked before they appear, and a photograph is held for a person to look at rather than published automatically. We may remove any contribution, at any time, without telling you why. A photograph that is removed from the gallery may also have been kept in a backup for a short period after.
Pandal information, maps, routes and timings are provided as they are, and the festival itself changes faster than any page can. Pandalers is not affiliated with any pandal committee, with any political party, or with the festival's organisers, and no listing here is an endorsement. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for anything arising from your use of the site or from travelling to a pandal you found here.
The site is free to use and is paid for by advertising. Ads are supplied by third-party networks, and every one of them is labelled as advertising. We decide where on a page an ad may appear and what may appear there; we do not decide which particular ad you are shown, and an ad is not a recommendation, an endorsement or a statement by Pandalers. We are not responsible for a product or a service somebody else advertises. How those networks use cookies, and how to turn personalised advertising off, is set out in the privacy notice.
The code, design, written content, pandal records and the name Pandalers belong to Tanumoy Maity. Your contributions remain yours, as set out above. Everything else is offered to you as a visitor and not to be copied, reused or run under this name without written permission. The full notice, together with the terms, is here: download the licence.
If these terms change in a way that affects you, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and a material change will be announced on the site. Continuing to use Pandalers after that means the new terms apply.
Questions about these terms, a request to remove a photograph, or a claim that your rights have been infringed: open an issue on the project's issue tracker, with the pandal and a link to the picture if one is involved. See also the privacy notice.
